Mahindra is ready to take its legendary Scorpio into the electric age with the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio Electric, likely to be launched as Scorpio.e. As part of Mahindra’s major electric transition strategy, this EV version of the rugged SUV will combine bold design, modern tech, and emission-free mobility. After years of success in the petrol and diesel segments, the Scorpio is now set to challenge the growing EV SUV market in India and abroad.
Bold Design with a Futuristic EV Identity
The Scorpio Electric will retain its iconic stance with a muscular build and boxy silhouette but will bring new-age enhancements such as closed-off grilles, pixel LED lighting, and aerodynamically styled wheels. Mahindra’s design cues, seen in teaser videos and early concept renders under the “Vision S” name, suggest an SUV that balances rugged off-road potential with futuristic city appeal.
Powerful Performance with Modern EV Platform
Unlike the ladder-frame chassis used in the current Scorpio-N, the electric variant is expected to be built on Mahindra’s advanced INGLO skateboard platform. This will support both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive setups. Power output could reach up to 395 PS with torque as high as 535 Nm. Battery packs are expected to range from 60 to 80 kWh, offering a real-world range between 325 km to 450 km on a single charge, ensuring both urban and adventure-friendly driving.
Expected Launch Timeline and Price in India
The official debut of the Mahindra Scorpio Electric is anticipated in August 2025, showcased first as the Vision S concept. Full production is expected to begin by late 2026, with the India launch likely scheduled for early 2027. Pricing is not confirmed yet, but estimates suggest an ex-showroom price starting from around ₹25 lakh, putting it in competition with the upcoming Tata Harrier EV, MG EV SUVs, and Kia’s future electric offerings.
Why the Scorpio Electric Could Be a Game Changer
With strong demand for SUVs and rising interest in electric vehicles, the Mahindra Scorpio Electric will fill a unique space in the Indian market. It promises the reliability and boldness of the Scorpio brand along with zero-emission technology and modern comforts. Mahindra’s move signals its ambition to stay ahead in the SUV segment by offering both traditional fuel-based models and future-ready electric options.
