Honda has officially entered the electric scooter market with the launch of the much-awaited Honda Activa EV, officially named Activa e:. Based on the legacy of the country’s highest-selling scooter, the Activa e: brings familiar reliability with futuristic upgrades. The company aims to redefine urban commuting by offering a powerful, smart, and eco-friendly electric two-wheeler that aligns with India’s growing shift towards EVs.
Performance That Matches a 110cc Petrol Scooter
The Activa EV is powered by a 6 kW electric motor that delivers 22 Nm of torque, giving it similar performance to the petrol-powered Activa 110. The scooter accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h in just over 7 seconds, with a top speed capped around 80 km/h. This performance level ensures smooth city rides while keeping operating costs and maintenance low.
Swappable Battery Technology for Convenience
Honda’s most unique move with the Activa e: is its dual swappable battery system. Each battery pack has a 1.5 kWh capacity and together they deliver a range of up to 102 km on a single charge. Instead of waiting hours to recharge, users can swap out discharged batteries at Honda’s “e:Swap” stations now available in major metro cities. This system makes the scooter a practical choice for daily riders who prioritize time and convenience.
Smart Features That Match Modern Expectations
The Activa e: is equipped with a 7-inch TFT display that supports turn-by-turn navigation, real-time alerts, and Bluetooth connectivity. It also comes with Honda’s H-Smart Key system that enables features like Smart Unlock, Smart Start, and Find My Scooter. With telescopic front suspension, reverse assist, USB charging, and disc brakes, it checks all the boxes for today’s tech-savvy riders.
Launch Price and Market Availability
The Honda Activa EV has been launched in two variants. The standard variant is priced at ₹1.17 lakh, while the premium RoadSync Duo version goes up to ₹1.52 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings began earlier this year, and deliveries have already started in select cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai, with plans to expand pan-India in the coming months.
